Welcome to Mrs. Loftis' and Mr. Nolan's Class!

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope you enjoy learning about our classroom through our website!
We encourage you to read for at least 15 minutes every day! Since December we have read over 720 Accelerated Reader Books and have earned over 350 points! We want you to know that the more you read, the more you know! Happy Reading!
Mrs. Loftis' and Mr. Nolan's First Grade class can be found at South Fork Elementary School. There are 19 students and one rabbit in the classroom. Each day they learn about reading, writing, math, science and social studies. Mrs. Loftis and Mr. Nolan enjoy being their teachers and are very proud of them!

Mrs. Loftis' Personal Philosophy

Children learn in a variety of learning styles: tactile, kinesthetic, auditory and visual.
A successful education is a three-way partnership between students, parents and teachers. By experiencing learning through a variety of learning styles, Problem-Based Learning and small reading groups, all students will be able to experience the success necessary to become life-long learners.
Class Mission Statement

Our Class Rules
1. Listen to the adult in charge and follow all directions.
2. Act respectfully and always use your best manners.
- Keep hands and feet to self.
- Always tell the truth.
- Do not cheat or steal.
- Act nicely to others and to the adults in charge.
3. Do not talk while working, walking in line, or walking in the hall.
Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a fun and exciting program for all of our students at South Fork School. After students read one AR book and score 70% or greater on the computerized test, they receive a racecar. Each time a student scores 70% or greater on 5 AR tests, they may move their car along the racetrack. Students and classes receive prizes and recognition for their accomplishments. All students who score 70% or greater on 9 or more AR tests may attend the 4th Quarter AR party.

Reading is a fun activity for everyone! When you read, you not only improve your mind, but you also learn about the world around you!
